It's good to talk to friends you haven't talked to in a while. For lots of reasons, but the one I am thinking of specifically is that they haven't heard the daily effects of your life on you. You find you have to summarize to fill them in, and in turn this forces you to hear yourself render a summary of how you view yourself, or how you want to be viewed by this particular friend.
Would you say it the same way if it was someone else? Would you find more colorful descriptions to paint your life with? Try to impress less or more? Be more sarcastic, more thoughtful, insightful, funnier, be a better listener? Would you scratch the surface about where you are in life or start right with the deepest concerns, thoughts, perspectives? Do you tend to always talk about _______ first and _________ second and will you stick with that familiar and comfortable script or go out on a limb and change it up?
Will you talk more or listen more? Will you judge yourself as you talk? Are you fascinated with their life or would you rather get their take on yours? Will you feel better after this conversation is over than you did before it began? Will you want to talk to this person more often or feel good that you now have a good break between the next time?
The reason all this comes up today is because I spoke with a dear friend. I will not go into the intricacies of our talk, or what it did for my psyche, but I will tell you this. My friend inspired me to begin blogging. So here I am.
I have not been a huge reader of other's blogs in the past, and have not been a big writer myself (unless I'm traveling and feel I have something very fresh to tell). But after some thought, I feel there is freshness to each day and it's all about your interaction and acceptance of that freshness which will bring you joy or pain...sunshine or rain :O)
I am writing this blog, For The Health Of It...yours, mine and ours. I will write about current news in our country's health (crisis) situation, nutrition and lifestyle, travel anecdotes and stories, restuarant reviews and a chance to interact with all of you about it all.
